Motorola Moto M release date, news & update: Leaked images amazing specs; Moto Mods contest to reward developers

If reports are to be believed, press photos Motorola Moto M have been released. Specs, details and images of the handset have surfaced online. The series of photos leaked online show the front and back of the handset’s retail box. Photos of the smartphone have also been leaked.
Moto M has been codenamed Kung-Fu. The specifications of the phone are present at the rear side of the retail box. Previous rumours along with the press renders have allowed tech enthusiasts to have a better understanding of the smartphone.
The Motorola Moto M is believed to run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P15 processor and a Mali-T860 GPU. The phone will have a 5.5-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, writes PhoneArena.
The Motorola Moto M is expected to have 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card and a 4GB RAM. A 16MP rear camera will come with Phase Detection Autofocus. The 8MP selfie camera will also be adept in taking video calls.
One of the leaked images also shows the fingerprint scanner. The handset is expected to sport a metal uni-body design. Another image shows the USB Type-C port, speaker grill located at the bottom, the 3.5mm headphone jack and SIM card slot.
The price of the Motorola Moto M will be anywhere from US$300 (AU$390)-US$365 (AU$475). The Moto M model that will be made available in China will come pre-installed with OneDrive, Microsoft Office and Skype.
Motorola is also calling developers to submit their ideas on Moto Mods. It is launching a Moto Mods Developer contest along with Indiegogo. Developers will get a chance to be at the Hackathon event in San Francisco and New York in December. The winning ideas from developers could be included in the devices.
Moreover, the chosen 10 developers will also get a chance to be at the company’s Chicago headquarters to meet the Moto Mods executive team, writes The Verge.
