Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) is planning to launch the production version of the XUV Aero concept which was showcased earlier this year at the Auto Expo 2016. The SUV will only become a production model once Mahindra sees that the car is catching the attention of the public and if there is a considerable demand for it. Pawan Goenka, executive director, M&M, stated: “We would want to launch it. We have already done some initial engineering work but we have not finalised anything about its business viability.”
If Mahindra sees that the car has substantial sales prospects, the production version of the XUV Aero will take a minimum of two years to hit the roads. Though Mahindra has received some positivity from the market for the new offering, the carmaker still isn't convinced that the market will allow an India-based company to launch a product that falls in a premium price segment.

Speaking about the car, the XUV Aero is a coupé-SUV crossover concept that is based on the XUV500. The model has been built by the Mahindra Group-owned Italian design firm Pininfarina and styled in-house by the carmaker.  The concept car has multiple drive and suspension modes such as Race, Off-Road, Street and Sport. Mahindra has not revealed any mechanical details of the XUV Aero concept yet, but it might get the mHawk engine which will be capable of producing 215.85PS of power. Mahindra claims that the SUV can do a 0 to 60kmph sprint in under six seconds. Well, we just hope that the carmaker sticks to what it has claimed, if the XUV Aero does make it to the production lines
